Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the newest addition to the long-running Assassin’s Creed series, developed by Ubisoft Quebec. Mark your calendars—it’s set to release on November 15, 2024! This game will be the fourteenth major installment in the series, following up on 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Plot

Set during the Azuchi-Momoyama period of Japanese history, Assassin’s Creed Shadows begins in 1579 and continues into the early 1580s. This game is notable for being the first since 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to feature the Assassins and Templars in their ‘classic’ forms.

The story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows revolves around two protagonists: Naoe, a fictional female shinobi trained by her father Fujibayashi Nagato, a master ninja of the Iga clan, and Yasuke, a real historical figure. Yasuke, originally from Africa, arrived in Japan with the Portuguese in 1579 and soon became a samurai serving Lord Oda Nobunaga. This is the first Assassin’s Creed game that lets you play as a real person from the past!
