In a startling revelation, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, the mother of the renowned rapper-singer Doja Cat, has sought legal protection by filing a restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini.
Claims of Abuse
As per court documents submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on January 12, 2024, Sawyer alleges that her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, has subjected both her and Doja Cat to physical and verbal abuse. The legal papers assert that Dlamini’s actions have left Doja Cat, whose legal name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, feeling “unsafe and traumatized.”
Physical Harm and Property Damage
The documents delve into disturbing instances of physical harm caused by Dlamini, detailing incidents such as knocking out Doja Cat’s teeth and inflicting bruises and lacerations. Alongside the physical abuse, Sawyer claims that Dlamini has engaged in the destruction and theft of Doja Cat’s belongings.
Past Restraining Orders
While Sawyer had previously obtained restraining orders against Dlamini, those orders have since lapsed. The current legal pursuit for a restraining order emphasizes the imperative need for protection for both Sawyer and Doja Cat.
Impact on Doja Cat’s Career
Despite the personal challenges, Doja Cat remains steadfast in her professional journey. Recently announced as one of the headliners for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival 2024, she continues to make strides in her career.
