The First Day Hike at Eagle Marsh East is open to anyone interested, and you can register if you like, but it’s not required. The event’s description emphasizes that it’s suitable for hikers of all levels, so whether you’re a seasoned trekker or just looking for a leisurely stroll, you’re welcome to join.

Just be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, including warm socks and rubber boots.

The annual First Day Hike is happening on Monday in Minnesota, with guided hikes being offered by Minnesota State Park Naturalists at about a dozen parks.

This initiative is part of a nationwide effort by America’s State Parks to encourage people to spend more time outdoors, with over 400 hikes planned in all 50 states this year.

If you’re interested in participating, some of the participating parks in the area include Whitewater State Parks and Frontenac State Park. While the hikes are free, you’ll still need a vehicle permit to enter the park.
