Jakarta: A powerful earthquake has recently struck Indonesia’s easternmost region of Papua. Although no significant damage or loss of life has been reported, officials are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to provide assistance if needed.

It is important to note that Indonesia is situated on the “Ring of Fire,” an arc of volcanoes and fault lines in the Pacific Basin, making it prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The National Centre for Seismology has reported that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Irian Jaya region late on Saturday.
