Taylor Swift was just a teenager when she wrote Tim McGraw, she was in her freshman year of high school. The song was believed to be inspired by a guy she dated before all the celebrity boyfriends she had.

Although the song Tim McGraw was released on June 19, 2006. But Taylor included this song as lead single into her debut album, titled Taylor Swift, which was released almost 4 months later on October 24, 2006. Swift was just 16 when she released her self-titled album.
