The Nomination Process of Grammy
The Grammy’s voting process begins with members and record companies submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The Online Entry Process (OEP) Access Period took place from July 17, 2023 – Aug. 31, 2023. First Round Voting occurred from Oct. 11 to Oct. 20, 2023. Lastly, Final Round Voting will span Dec. 14, 2023 to Jan. 4, 2024.
Nominations and Victories
The excitement began on November 10, 2023, with the announcement of nominations. SZA led the pack with nine nods, including record and song of the year nods for her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit Kill Bill and an album of the year nod for her 10-week Billboard 200 chart-topper SOS, closely followed by Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and engineer/mixer Serban Ghenea, each securing seven nominations. Notably, Monét’s 2-year-old daughter, Hazel, etched her name in Grammy history as the youngest nominee ever, featuring in her mother’s song Hollywood, nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance.
Record of the Year
The nominees for Record of the Year include Worship by Jon Batiste, Not Strong Enough by boygenius, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, What Was I Made For? (From The Motion Picture Barbie) by Billie Eilish, On My Mama by Victoria Monét, Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo, Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift, and “Kill Bill” by SZA.
Album of the Year
The nominees include Being Funny in a Foreign Language by The 1975, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd by Lana Del Rey, Midnights by Taylor Swift, JAGUAR II by Victoria Monét, Bus Stop by Don Toliver, Just Face It by Dreamville with Blxst, King’s Disease III by Nas, and Magic 3 by Nas.
New Categories in Grammys 2024
The 2024 Grammys introduced three new categories, namely Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording.
