Record-Breaking Wins at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG)

The film Oppenheimer emerged as the big winner of the night, walking away with the maximum number of awards in the film category. Cillian Murphy won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal in Oppenheimer. His co-star, Robert Downey Jr., also bagged the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

In the television category, The Bear led the list with three awards. Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri were honored for their performances, winning the awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor and a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, respectively.

Lily Gladstone made history by becoming the first indigenous actress to win the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in Killers of the Flower Moon.

Barbra Streisand: A Lifetime of Achievement

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) Life Achievement Award to the legendary Barbra Streisand. The award was presented by Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper.

Streisand, in her acceptance speech, moved the audience to tears as she recalled her journey from dreaming of being an actress as a teenager in Brooklyn to becoming a Hollywood legend. She spoke about her love for films and her desire to be part of the make-believe world that was much more pleasant than her reality.

The 81 years old icon also thanked two brilliant men on her first film, Funny Girl, director William Wyler, and his cinematographer, Harry Stradling Sr., for having no issues with a young woman who had opinions. This set the tone for her whole career, which spans over 60 years.

Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) 2024 was indeed a night to remember, with its share of surprises and emotional moments.
