ABC’s New Year’s Eve special tops the ratings chart. The network’s annual New Year’s Eve special was the broadcast winner. The first part of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024,” which aired from 8-10 p.m. in primetime, drew 7 million total viewers and a 1.81 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. That’s a 35% increase in total viewers from last year’s show, which had an audience of 5.2 million, and a 33% rise among Adults 18-49 (last year’s show got a 1.36 rating). This made the Sunday night show the highest rated since 2020.

Part 2 of the show, which aired from 10:30- 11:30 pm, had a 2.93 rating among Adults 18-49, making it the highest-rated entertainment show on any network in primetime in the demo since ABC’s March broadcast of “The Oscars.”
The special attracted 10.4 million total viewers, making Part 2 of the “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” special the most-watched entertainment show in primetime. The late-night show, which aired from 11:30 p.m. to 12:37 a.m., had 18 million total viewers and an average 5.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The show reached its peak around midnight, with 22.2 million total viewers and a 6.41 Adult 18-49 rating as viewers watched the ball drop. The late-night show jumped 30% in Total Viewers from last year’s numbers (13.8 million) and by 30% among Adults 18-49 (5.33 rating vs. 4.11 rating).The second late-night show, which aired at 1:09 a.m., had 5.1 million total viewers and a 1.47 rating among Adults 18-49, showing a significant growth from last year’s show by 19% in total viewers (5.1 million vs. 4.3 million) and by 14% among Adults 18-49 (1.47 rating vs. 1.29 rating). Meanwhile, CBS’ broadcast of “Nashville’s Big Bash” scored 7.85 million total viewers — that’s a 75% increase from last year — throughout the night.
