He went to St. Brendan’s, then St. Athanasius Primary Schools before moving on to Our Lady’s High School in Motherwell. His family relocated from Motherwell to Carluke while he was still in school, and it was during this period that he discovered his passion for theater.

McCardie kicked off his acting journey in 1989, gracing screens in beloved shows like EastEnders. But it was in 2012 that he really made waves, stepping into the shoes of Tommy Hunter in Line of Duty.
